Sport Fishing from Tulum: How It Works
If you are staying in Tulum, the nearest marina for a proper fishing yacht is Puerto Aventuras, about 30 minutes from downtown Tulum or 40 minutes from the hotel zone. There are small panga boats fishing off the Tulum hotel zone beaches, and they work for a short inshore trip — but if you want something better equipped, with a cabin, head, real tackle and the range to reach the blue water, you want to leave from Puerto Aventuras.
We run round-trip transport from Tulum to Puerto Aventuras at extra cost — usually around $200 USD round trip depending on your hotel, and we have Suburbans if you want something more comfortable. Once on the water the fishing is the same as in Puerto Morelos: sailfish, blue and white marlin, mahi-mahi, tuna, wahoo and kingfish offshore, snapper, grouper and barracuda over the reef.

Best Time to Fish
There is fishing year round in the Mexican Caribbean. Sailfish and kingfish run strongest in the cooler months, mahi-mahi and marlin in the warmer ones.
What to Bring
Hat, sunglasses, sandals, light clothing, photo ID and some cash. Just bring sunscreen and your camera — the rest is on board.
